FOR QUICK & EASY INSTALLATION OF: The Quest For Nora
====================================================
If you are installing for the first time...Otherwise, read UPGRADE.DOC!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-> Keep in mind as of v5.5 of TQFN, EPM's are now included IN the main
game. You no longer will have to download the EPM's or install any
other .EXE files.
-> Move the QUESTxxx.EXE file into the directory you plan to run The Quest
For Nora from: ie. C:\DOORS\QUEST.
-> Since the QUESTxxx.EXE archive automatically creates the needed
subdirectories, you should be in the directory that you want to run the
game from already!
-> Change to that directory and run the self-extracting executable. The
archive will then be uncompressed. Ensure ALL of the files have the AV
STAMP on them from Lounge Software. If not, you can call Zippy's Lounge
BBS at (403)475-8703 or if you are a member of FIDO, you can FREQ the
magic name QUEST at 1:342/1020 or you can get a new copy off of the
Lounge Software Web Page. See QUEST.DOC for the address.
-> Once you've ensured all of the files are original, type CONFIG and choose
option number 1: Install The Quest For Nora.
-> You will also want to choose the Install/Remove EPM's option. This will
give you a list of EPM's(Extended Play Modules) available. You can
install any of these modules by hitting that EPM's number. Once
installed, that EPM will be available to the users at the [F]ind More
Elsewhere option in the main game.
-> Read TQFNAIP.DOC. This is Lounge Software's Artificial Intelligence
Players Module for TQFN. You will be able to quickly and easily add
10 computer players to your game with TQFNAIP.EXE.
-> Create a .BAT file to run the door from your BBS. Included here is a
sample .BAT file to run The Quest For Nora on a WILDCAT system.
DOOR10.BAT
==========
cd\doors\quest <- Call to directory
quest quest1.cfg <- Command line to start door
ren scores.ans bull20.bbs <- Rename created ANSI bulletin
move bull20.bbs c:\wc40\bull <- Move ANSI bulletin to appropriate dir
cd\wc40 <- Call back to BBS directory
If you are unsure about setting up a door with your particular BBS
software, please consult your BBS documentation.
-> TQFN creates a ANSI BULLETIN called SCORES.ANS and leaves it in your TQFN
directory. You can rename it as in the example above and move it to
your BBS bulletin directory. If you do not want an ANSI bulletin, then
don't worry about renaming or moving SCORES.ANS.
-> Add a call to QMAINT.EXE in your nightly event file. QMAINT MUST be
run once a day in order for proper operation.
-> Log onto your BBS and play The Quest For Nora or try it locally by
typing LOCAL in your TQFN directory.
A directory called DOCS will be created off of your main Quest For Nora
directory. Here you will find all of the documentation as well as the
registration form. Please read QUEST.DOC for FULL INSTALLATION
instructions and information! Consult CONFIG.DOC for full documentation
on using the Configuration Utility Program!
Other subdirectories will also be created from the main archive. MAIL,
where all of the player mail files are kept and ANSI where all of the
screens are kept.
Read UPGRADE.DOC if you are already running a version of The Quest For
Nora!
ENJOY! And don't forget to register!
